This is youth—not as a phase, but as a storm.

When I painted 17, I didn’t aim to capture a face. I wanted to capture a feeling—that electric, untamed emotion of being seventeen. The fire beneath the skin, the thousand thoughts behind a single glance, the mix of self-confidence and vulnerability, boldness and confusion.

The strokes are quick, layered, unapologetic. The palette is wild and alive: glowing oranges, reds, pinks, acid greens, ocean blues. All colliding in a sort of organized chaos, just like the emotions of that age. Each stroke builds her expression—a gaze that is searching, fearless, maybe even questioning everything.

Her eyes say, I know who I am, and in the same breath, I’m still figuring it out.

This painting is about energy. About being too much and not enough, all at once. About how every emotion at that age feels like forever, how beauty is raw and imperfect, and how the world is both overwhelming and full of possibility.
